A Study on Drinking Mode of the College Students


Abstract
This study was to offer data for the future study and to analyze an aspect of the college culture by examining on drinking mode of the college students.
Data were collected by questionnaire being consisted of general characteristics, signs and symptoms of inveterate drinking, abstinence from drinking, drinking and health, and offspring and drinking, to 256 students sampled by quota sampling among one college, from June 11th to 20th, 1990.
The results were as follows.
1. As for the general characteristics ; sex, age, pocket money, and religion were examined(Table 1). Female(73.79%) was higher than male in sex, 20 and 21 years old(65. 05%) was the highest in age group, 50 to 100 thousands monthly (60.67%) was the highest in pocket money, atheism(51.46%) was higher than religion in religion group.
2. As for the tendency to drinking ; drinking, signs and symptoms of inveterate drinking, problems by drinking, sorts of liquor, mix of liquors, feeling after getting sober, drinking place, custom¢¥s house, persons drinking with, motive of drinking, first drinking, person being taught drinking, and merit of drinking were examined(Table 2).
73.79% of subjects were drinking, and as being compared with general characteristics, there was significant difference between drinking and sex, pocket money, and religion (Table 6).
36.84% of drinking students had signs and symptoms of inveterate drinking, there was significant difference between signs and symptoms of inveterate drinking, and sex and pocket money(Table 6).
3. As for the tendency to abstinence from drinking, 69.08% of students had no intention to abstinence from drinking(Table 3).
4. As for the drinking and health, 76.32% of subjects had no experience of hangover, non-treatment group of hangover was the highest, 80% of drugs used by drinking was liver protectives(Table 4).
5. As for the offspring and drinking, 94.74% of subjects permitted drinking of offspring, time of permission was as being college students (Table 5).
